  • Description
    • 1- 14 gauge (2"x6") hand cut sterling silver plate
    • 1-2.5mm Square wire (approm. 16")
    • 1-pound of Natural Spiny Shell ( Orange / Red)
    • 1-43ct Chrysoprase Gem Quality.

To get started I hand cut a sheet of 14 gauge sterling silver to the size 2x6 for the backplate. The inside of the bracelet has been intricately hand stamped to create a Navaho rug inspired design that incorporates my hallmark and my culture. The bezel that is made of 2.5mm square wire is then soldered to the plate using hard solder. Once the bezel is soldered in place the process of bending and shaping into a bracelet can begin. In the process of bending the bracelet I use a steal pipe & mallet hammer.
Now the  lapidary can begin. I free form cut all the Spiny Shell & Chrysoprase using a 4” saw blade. I then hand cabochon each stone using my genie lapidary machine too it bring out the beauty and shape it to my desired specifications.
The stones are ready to be laid out to begin the construction of the Phoenix. I use a 2 part adhesive called Epoxy. With this adhesive I begin placing all the Spiny Shell  in there perspective places with the  Chrysoprase set in the center for a contrast in color and texture. I then add 2 Indian Head Buffalo Nickels for protection of the stone and it gives it an added flare. Once the 2 part Epoxy cures I then give the bracelet a high polish on the buffer.
The process from start to finish took about 6 months. The Phoenix represents a symbol of hope, renewal, rebirth, immortality, resurrection, solitude, and grace. Just like the phoenix emerges from its ashes, so can man after devastation and loss. The phoenix gives mankind hope and urges us to fight on. It asks us to keep up the human spirit.
